It all began in 1987 . . .

It all started with Lady (above left).  I acquired her in 1987 as a companion dog.  Shortly after, I began attending local dog shows and took an interest in showing.  Although Lady was showable, I soon found that she was not necessarily competitive.  At the time, Lady was the only Dal in Rosendale (Village where I live), and as a tribute the above picture was used as a basis for my logo, and kennel name Rose' N Dal.

I decided to get serious and spent a substantial amount more money in 1988 to acquire Tali.  She was the pick of her litter.  Early in my showing career though, I made some mistakes in handling and never did proceed to titling her.  She did however, become our foundation bitch.  She was bred to champions and produced Rose'N Dal's Pascali CD, and CAN CH Rose'N Dal Dymond in the Ruff CD.

Dals fit perfectly into family life
Pictured here from left to right are Dymond, Lady, and Tali.  Although all of them have now gone to the "rainbow bridge", they all slept with my daughter Michelle, keeping her warm on the cold Wisconsin winter nights.

But are they good with children?

Pictured here is Noel (Legind's Christmas at Rose'N Dal) with my first Grandson Jaxton.  If dalmatians (or any dog for that matter) weren't trustworthy, do you think I would risk such close contact?

Proper training of dogs is a must.  Early socialization, love, attention, and discipline are all factors in making a dog a welcome family member.  Although I trust my dogs, NEVER leave them alone and unsupervised with infants and small children.

Dalmatians make excellent family pets.  They know who their family is and are always there to watch out for them.

So what do you think?  Is there a SPOT for one in your life?

They enjoy just being around you
Dals love to be around people.  This is Taz (CH Rose'N Dal's Tazmanian Devil).  He loves to spend his summer relaxing in the chair out on the deck.  "Hey Der!  Bring me a nodder beer and are dose BRATS done yet?".
